Singtel’s customers have raised concerns of information confidentiality, privacy breaches and comprised account security regarding Singtel’s My Singtel app, when on 1 March 2016, Singtel’s customers logging into a their own Singtel accounts and could view personal details, such as the name and address, of a different customer when they opened their My Singtel app, instead of their own account details. Some users even reported seeing unusual (and even insulting) messages on the app’s account information and billing pages.
Others Singtel customers also reported that they were unable to log in to the app even after resetting their passwords.
Singtel has said that the app service was suspended after information of one of their customers was “erroneously published due to a software glitch”.
Singtel has issued a statement assuring customers that this is an isolated incident and their account security has not been compromised.
As of 3 March 2016, My Singtel app functions have been fully restored.
